There are only a few places that tick all the boxes; Great food, Great vibe, Friendly staff, Original concept, Awesome location, Gorgeous waitresses, Live music, Outside catering, and a Rock ‘n Roll theme – SOLD! “On a Roll” in Obs is more than an eatery, it’s a way of life. Specialty Hot-Dogs, made with LOVE AND ROCK ‘n ROLL!
I first came across this little gem at Rocking the Daisies last year where they had set up a food stall… With a queue 6 miles long! With insanely awesome hotdogs on the menu, Windhoek beer, a jukebox and the staff having the time of their lives. Yes, this is where I spent my time when away from the stage. There is passion in their food, and there’s ‘Rock and Roll’ in everything!
With over 25 variations of one the world’s favourite pastimes, you’re guaranteed to find the Dog that fills your needs, and your belly.
Come on!?
Owned by Peter ‘Chef’ Ayub who has cooked everything and everywhere on this planet, and who’s dedication to the cause is proven by his new customized image of a 1940′s pin-up girl tattooed on his arm, with his dog, Batman, and the gorgeous girl holding… You guessed it, a hot-dog. He is a maestro in the kitchen, a champion on the floor, and runs the place like a relaxed corporal-sergeant, but he can’t play bowls for shit (You have been warned).
Thursday’s are where it’s at
The places invites you to pull in, relax, listen to some great music, check out the old-school albums and memorabilia on the walls, and perhaps even jump up and grab the microphone for a while on Open Mic Night every Monday. Live music every Thursday, and the party continues until the dogs are gone and the keg is finished…. It’s brilliant!
Monday’s are good too… Ladies?
Check them out NOW… I strongly recommend a visit to “On a Roll” as soon as possible, it will not disappoint, take my word for it… The NEW biggest Hot-Dog fan alive.
L to R: Nick Matthews (Legend), Peter (Chef), Ek (Work it out), and Jono (The Go-To-Guy)… having a beer break between bowls… Which Chef lost us.

Just so everyone knows, today’s CHALLENGE has been called off because even though we have had MAD interest and support for this campaign, not one person has confirmed that they will get naked in support. Understandable, but yet again proving that Steve is THE MAN! And what he is doing is not only impressive but really ballsy too.
Steve for PRESIDENT!
Kauai Rhino Relay a few months back
——————————————————————————————————————
Okay, so everyone knows Steve Newman… He’s the #NakedSkydiver who has been kicking up a storm and creating some GREAT awareness for the “Save The Rhino” initiative. With over R60 000 been raised for his charity so far, after numerous #NakedSkydiver stints including skydiving, Red Bull Lion Heart & Flutag, being featured in Runners Magazine, a regular at Moonlightmass, 2 Oceans Marathon, Kauai Rhino Relay – All naked! Now being BANNED from The Argus Cycle Tour for 2014, the man is at an all time high… BUT SO IS THE POACHING – ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!
(Rhino death toll as of 30 May 2013 sits at 367… Total of 712 in 2012)
Imagine having to explain what these WERE to your kids… Let’s prevent that reality
So here’s the deal: All the info you need is below, but let’s get to the crux of the matter…. How supportive are YOU? Are you prepared to to take a stand? We want YOU to get involved!
We will be hosting a MASS PROTEST at Renaissance Gym in Bree Street on Sunday 2 June at 13h00 – We are looking for as many people as we can to come get naked in support of Newman doing HIS thing for OUR Rhinos. We will film a quick shot of everyone training (Your bits and bobs will be covered so don’t stress), a couple of incidental clips and then a couple of interviews / words of supports for Steve.
Where it all began – Skydive for Rhinos - Steve and I, and an innocent spectator
Our last clip went viral thanks to AVA Online, and me… Ha! CHECK THIS
So…. You ballsy enough?
Spread the word and come join us in creating some noise, getting Steve back on his bike, and making a difference…

Legend
He has just been banned from cycling in The Cape Augus Cycle tour next year because of his outfit, or lack thereof; “The Cape Argus Cycle Tour accused Newman of Rule 2.15 that says a rider is expected to wear “clothing appropriate for a family event at all times” – Oh please! We were all born naked were we not? That was a pretty large ‘Family event’. (FULL STORY HERE – News24.com)
Right story, wrong picture – Pictured is Chris Stear, one of the three original Naked Skydivers
Rocking the Daisies (SA’s most loved outdoor music festival 3 – 6 Oct 2013) has offered to donate R10 000 to his charity, Project Rhino KZN, if he cycles to the venue in Darling – NEKED. (FULL STORY HERE – Channel24.com)
